Part of the Mothering Community
It was the end of July, but the beginning of a new relationship in our community!
Teresa, owner of A Mother’s Haven in Encino, California, was celebrating her 10th year of serving mothers-to-be and new mommies in our community. What a lovely store, filled with useful and whimsical items for mommy and baby. What warm and supportive classes for new mommies. And what better new friend for Highland Hall Waldorf School? For we share the common values of cherishing motherhood and children.
Teresa invited us to join her on the last day of her anniversary fair and install what we lovingly call our “mobile kindergarten.”
So over we came with our furniture and other natural wooden, silk, and wool handmade treasures from Highland Hall’s Early Childhood Center.
This would give folks a taste of the enchanted world we offer our youngest children at Highland Hall. It also offered a lovely play space for the children who had come along with their mommies.
Elizabeth Shahbazi, our Parent/Child Program teacher brought up simple playthings for the wee toddlers and sat with our smallest visitors.
Our other nursery and kindergarten teachers greeted parents and children. And when we had a small grouping of children, Sheila Branagan unveiled her lovely “Three Billy Goats Gruff” puppet show.
Teresa also hosted face painters, a clothing swap by Peace Love Swap of the San Fernando Valley.
We went home, hot, tired and delighted to make such wonderful new friends, and participate in this lovely event.
